In New York Pick 10 you choose ten numbers from 80 and twenty are drawn every night. How the keno-style game works, how to check a ticket, and the odds.
Published 16 October 2026 · the numbers in this guide are read live from our archive.
The short answer. Pick 10 is a New York Lottery game played like keno. You choose ten numbers from 1 to 80, and every night at 8:30 PM Eastern twenty numbers are drawn from those same 80. What matters is how many of your ten are among the twenty, called your catch. The top prize needs all ten.
Nearly every other game on this site works the same way round: you pick a few numbers, the draw produces the same number of balls, and you hope yours are the ones drawn. Pick 10 reverses the proportions. The draw is twice the size of your ticket. Out of 80 numbers, twenty are drawn, and your ten are compared against all twenty. Catching all ten means every one of your numbers landed somewhere inside that larger set.
That format is usually called keno, and it changes how a result should be read. There is no single “winning line” to copy onto a ticket, because no ticket could ever hold all twenty drawn numbers. The twenty are a net, and the question for each ticket is how many of its ten fell into it.
| Game | You pick | Drawn | Draw time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pick 10 | 10 numbers from 1–80 (20 are drawn) | Daily | 8:30 PM ET |
One note on that table. Your ticket holds ten numbers, but the draw produces twenty, and it is those twenty that our archive stores and that you check a ticket against.

Pick 10 top-prize odds: twenty numbers are drawn from eighty and you choose ten, so catching all ten of yours is 1 in 8,911,711. This is arithmetic on the game’s format, not a claim about any draw.
There are 1,646,492,110,120 different groups of ten you could choose from 80. Of those, the ones that win the top prize are the groups of ten that sit entirely inside the twenty drawn numbers, and there are 184,756 of them. Dividing the first figure by the second gives the odds above. Because twenty numbers are drawn rather than ten, many different tickets can catch all ten on the same night, which is exactly what makes Pick 10 different from a lottery with one winning line.
Because the top prize is so rare, the more useful question for a Pick 10 player is what a normal night looks like. The same counting gives the chance of catching exactly any number from zero to ten. The table below is calculated from the format when the page loads, not typed in.
| Numbers caught | Chance | About one ticket in |
|---|---|---|
| 10 of 10 | under 0.1% | 8,911,711 |
| 9 of 10 | under 0.1% | 163,381 |
| 8 of 10 | under 0.1% | 7,384 |
| 7 of 10 | 0.16% | 621 |
| 6 of 10 | 1.15% | 87 |
| 5 of 10 | 5.14% | 19 |
| 4 of 10 | 14.73% | 7 |
| 3 of 10 | 26.74% | 4 |
| 2 of 10 | 29.53% | 3 |
| 1 of 10 | 17.96% | 6 |
| 0 of 10 | 4.58% | 22 |
A few things stand out. The average catch is 2.5 numbers, since each of your ten has a twenty-in-eighty chance of being drawn, and the most common results are two and three. Catching nothing at all is nearly as likely as catching five. And the chance falls away steeply from six upwards, which is where the rarity of the top prize comes from.
Which catches win a prize, and how much each pays, is set by the New York Lottery rather than by the arithmetic, so check its prize table for the current figures. The table above only tells you how often each catch happens, and that part never changes while the format stays the same.
The first is stopping at ten. With twenty numbers on the page, it is easy to glance at the first half of the list, see few matches and give up; your numbers can sit anywhere among all twenty. The second is reading the draw as a line to be matched in order, as in a digit game. Pick 10 has no order at all, so a number either appears among the twenty or it does not. The third is the date. New York’s evening is already the next morning in the Gulf and India, and checking a ticket against the draw from the night after it was meant for is the most common way to get a completely wrong count.
Choosing numbers works the same way in reverse. Spreading your ten across the 1–80 range, bunching them together, or choosing birthdays and anniversaries makes no difference: every group of ten has exactly the same chance, and the catch table above applies to all of them equally.
Pick 10 sits on the New York lottery results page alongside the state’s other draws, and our overview of the New York games shows where it fits among them.

Converted for 16 October 2026. US clocks change in March and November, which moves every US draw by an hour against the Gulf and India; this table is recalculated every time the page loads.
At 8:30 PM in New York, Pick 10 is one of the earlier US night draws, so its result is among the first waiting when the Gulf and South Asia wake up. It is drawn every day, including weekends, so there is a new result each morning, always filed in our archive under the New York date, which is the evening before yours. The table above recalculates the conversion on every visit, including the hour that moves when the US changes its clocks.
They make them easier to see, which is not the same thing. Twenty numbers a night, every night, fills an archive with streaks, pairs and gaps very quickly. Each draw is still independent: every group of twenty is as likely as any other, and a number missing for a fortnight is not due. The catch table above is the same on every night no matter what came before.
We publish Pick 10 frequency counts on the lucky numbers page with a plain measurement next to them of how picking by frequency performed against random choice over past draws. It performed the same.
Every draw below is recorded here after it is published, with a dated archive behind it.
