The short answer. New York runs nine draws that fall into three groups: two jackpot
games, three daily number games, and four digit games that draw twice a day. On a normal weekday that
is seven separate results, and on Wednesday and Saturday it is eight.
This is the part that confuses people arriving from a single-draw lottery. New York does not have one
nightly draw. It has a schedule, and several of its games run a full separate draw at lunchtime and
another in the evening — different balls, different result, no relationship between them.

New York Lotto is the classic six-from-59 game, drawn twice a week. It also draws a
bonus number, and unusually that bonus comes from the same pool of 59 rather than a separate
smaller one, so the bonus is a seventh ball rather than a second kind of ball.
Millionaire for Life is the newer of the two. It replaced Cash4Life on
22 February 2026 and draws every night. Its bonus ball, the Mill Ball, comes from a pool of only five,
which is the smallest bonus pool of any game on this site.

Take 5 draws five numbers from 39, twice a day. Pick 10 is the odd one
out and the one most often misread: you choose ten numbers from 1 to 80, and the draw produces twenty.
Seeing twenty numbers on a results page is correct, not a mistake — your ten are matched against
that set of twenty.

The digit games
Numbers draws three digits and Win 4 draws four, each digit
independently from 0 to 9. That independence is why a result like 3-4-3 or 7-7-7 is perfectly legal:
repeats are not a glitch in the draw or an error in our records, they are how a digit game works. Each
runs at midday and again in the evening, and the two draws are unrelated.

A word on picking numbers
Because several of these games draw every day, they generate an archive quickly, and it is tempting to
read patterns into it. Every draw is independent: a digit that has not shown for a fortnight is not due,
and a number drawn at midday has no bearing on the evening draw. Our
lucky numbers page publishes the frequency counts for each of these games
and, next to them, a measurement of how that analysis performed against random picking. It performed the
same. We publish both because the honest version of the tool is the only version worth having.
