California Fantasy 5 draws five numbers from 39 every night. How it differs from the Florida game, the real odds, and when results land abroad.
Published 18 October 2026 · the numbers in this guide are read live from our archive.
The short answer. California Fantasy 5 draws five numbers from 1 to 39 every night at 6:30 PM Pacific time, which is 9:30 PM Eastern. There is no bonus ball and order does not matter. Matching all five with one line is a 1 in 575,757 chance. It shares a name with Florida’s Fantasy 5 but is an entirely separate game.
Five balls come out of a set numbered 1 to 39. None goes back in, so a result never repeats a number. Your line is five numbers from the same range, and it is judged by how many of them appear among the five drawn, in any order. There is one draw a night, seven nights a week, and nothing else on the ticket to match.
| Game | You pick | Drawn | Draw time |
|---|---|---|---|
| California Fantasy 5 | 5 numbers from 1–39 | Daily | 9:30 PM ET |
Most recent California Fantasy 5 draw on record: 17 Oct 2026 — 9, 13, 15, 22, 24.
The draw time in that table is given in Eastern time, as all our US listings are, but California runs on Pacific time and the game is a 6:30 PM draw there. The two zones change their clocks on the same dates, so the three-hour gap between them never moves.
The shared name causes a steady trickle of wrong checks, so it is worth being precise. The two games have the same shape — five numbers, no bonus ball — and differ in three ways that matter.
California draws from 39 numbers, Florida from 36. Three extra numbers sounds minor, but it makes the top-prize odds about 1.5 times longer: 1 in 575,757 against 1 in 376,992. A number above 36 on your ticket is a quick tell that it belongs to California.
California draws once a night. Florida draws twice a day, at midday and late evening, and keeps two separate sets of results. There is no midday California Fantasy 5 result to confuse with the evening one.
Each game is run by its own state lottery, with its own prize rules and its own claim process. Nothing about one state’s draw tells you anything about the other’s. Our Florida Fantasy 5 guide covers that game in full.
California Fantasy 5 top-prize odds: there are 575,757 ways to choose 5 numbers from 1–39, so matching all of them with one line is 1 in 575,757. This is arithmetic on the game’s format, not a claim about any draw.
Set beside the other five-number games we publish that have no bonus ball, California Fantasy 5 can be placed exactly. The table is built from the catalogue each time the page loads, so it stays correct if any game changes its pool.
| Game | Pool | Top-prize odds per line |
|---|---|---|
| Fantasy 5 Evening | 1–36 | 1 in 376,992 |
| Take 5 Evening | 1–39 | 1 in 575,757 |
| California Fantasy 5 (this guide) | 1–39 | 1 in 575,757 |
| FAST 5 | 1–42 | 1 in 850,668 |
| Georgia Fantasy 5 | 1–42 | 1 in 850,668 |
| Pennsylvania Cash 5 | 1–43 | 1 in 962,598 |
| WILD 5 | 1–49 | 1 in 1,906,884 |
Notice that New York’s Take 5 has exactly the same figure. It also draws five from 39, so the arithmetic is identical even though the games, the operators and the results are not. Identical odds are a property of the format, not a link between the draws.
Big numbers are hard to picture, so here is one honest translation. Suppose someone played a single line every night without missing one. On average they would wait about 1,576 years for the top prize. That is an average over an enormous number of imaginary players, not a schedule: a line can win on its first night or never win at all, and every night’s chance is exactly the same as the last. Nothing accumulates, and a line that has lost a thousand times is not closer to winning.
The smaller matches are far more frequent than the top prize. Which matches pay, and how much, is set by the California Lottery and published there, so we do not repeat figures that could change.

Converted for 18 October 2026. US clocks change in March and November, which moves every US draw by an hour against the Gulf and India; this table is recalculated every time the page loads.
A 6:30 PM draw on the US West Coast is early morning of the next day in Dubai, Karachi and Delhi. So the result you check over breakfast in the Gulf belongs to the previous calendar date in California, and that previous date is the one to look for in our archive. The same moment also produces California Daily 3 and California Daily 4, so California’s nightly results tend to appear together. Everything California is listed on the California results page.
A ticket found in a drawer weeks later is a common reason to search for an old draw. The results page keeps a dated archive below the latest result, newest first, so scrolling to the date on the ticket is usually quicker than searching. Every row is a draw that actually took place and was published; if a night is ever missing, it stays missing until the official numbers are available, and nothing is estimated to fill the gap.
If you would rather not check at all, the bell on the California Fantasy 5 page subscribes you to that game alone. You get one notification when a new draw is recorded, and nothing from the other California games or from any other state. Because the result lands in the early hours for readers in the Gulf and India, most people who use it find the alert waiting when they wake, which is exactly when they would have looked anyway.
One practical warning about old tickets: the time allowed to claim a prize is set by the operator, and it is not something a results page can tell you. If an old ticket matches, contact the California Lottery promptly rather than assuming there is still time.

Every draw below is recorded here after it is published, with a dated archive behind it.
