The short answer: "Emirates Lottery" is not a brand. Nobody
operates a draw under that name. It is what people type when they mean one of
several real, separate UAE prize draws — most often Emirates Draw. The
distinction matters, because the phrase is also the one scam sites lean on.
Why the confusion exists
The UAE has never had a conventional state lottery of the kind Europe or the United
States would recognise. What it has instead is a set of prize draws and raffles, each
run by its own operator, each with its own rules. There is no single national game and
no single national brand, so there is no obvious correct name for the whole category.
"Emirates lottery" fills that gap in people's heads, and search engines have learned
to serve it.
So when someone searches for it, they could mean any of four or five different
things. Sorting out which is the useful part.
What the real names are
- Emirates Draw — the operator most people mean. It runs
several number games, each drawn on its own night, and it is where the winning
numbers we publish come from.
- Big Ticket — the Abu Dhabi raffle, sold in limited
numbered series rather than as a numbers game. It has run for decades and is a
different thing entirely: you buy a ticket number, you do not choose numbers.
- Mahzooz — a UAE draw that ran alongside Emirates Draw and
built a large following. Readers still search for it constantly, which is why we keep
a Mahzooz page and a
comparison rather than pretending the
name has gone away.
- "Emirates Lottery", "UAE Lottery", "Dubai Lottery" —
descriptions, not operators. Useful as search terms, meaningless as brands. If a site
presents one of them as the name of the game it runs, that is worth noticing.

Why the wrong name is a scam's favourite name
A fake site cannot use a real operator's brand too openly without inviting a
complaint. A generic one is safer for them and just as convincing to someone who does
not know the difference. That is why "Emirates Lottery International", "UAE National
Lottery" and similar constructions turn up in messages announcing that you have won a
draw you never entered.
Three things are true of every real UAE draw and of no scam:
- You cannot win a draw you did not enter. There is no
registration-free prize pool that picked your email address.
- No fee is ever charged to release winnings. Not a tax, not a
transfer charge, not a verification payment. A request for money is the entire
scam, arriving in whatever wrapper suits.
- The operator already knows who you are. A real prize is attached
to an entry that was bought through an account. Nobody has to email you asking for
your bank details to find you.
